Join us, or if you’re from afar – sponsor a little wooden boat – at PVEA’s celebration of the Peace River, BC’s Most Endangered River – this Sunday, September 29th. Customize your own boat if you like! 🙂

Sunday, September 29, 2013, 11:30 a.m.

Bear Flat on the Hudson’s Hope Highway 29, approx. 30 km south of FSJ. Look to the left and you will see a large, red kayak-shaped ‘Paddle for the Peace’ sign – enter the hayfield there and follow the road to the river’s edge.

How do I get a boat to sponsor?
You can sponsor one on-line, by going to our website at, clicking on DONATE in the upper left menu and paying by credit card or PayPal; or,

Go to the Fort St. John Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Sept 21st or 28th and register a boat in your name at PVEA’s table; or,

Phone Tony Atkins at 250-785-2088; or,

Mail your sponsorship money to: Peace Valley Environment Association, PO Box 6062, Fort St. John, BC V1J 4H6

Your name will be recorded with the boat you sponsor.
If you wish, you can take a boat home to paint (these are small, wooden boats) – paint it yourself or let your kids have fund painting them!

How much does it cost?
The sponsorship for each boat is $20.

How does the event work?
All boats will be released at 11:30 a.m. upriver from the hayfield near Bear Flat.
Watch the boats as they come downriver to the hayfield.
Bring your lunch including something to roast at the campfiire.

BONUS: Bake sale at the event and coffee!!

1st Place: An outdoor family portrait session with PVEA photographer, Don Hoffmann; or a plaque mount of his famous “Keeper of the Peace” picture.

2nd and 3rd Places: A box of assorted ‘Products from the Peace’

This is a critical year to gather together and show that we want to project the Peace River Valley – one of the only remaining, relatively ‘untouched’ ares in northeast BC. We look forward to having you join us! 🙂
