Dear Friend,

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed some rest and relaxation over the holidays and share our enthusiasm for entering the new year knowing that 2015 is the year Site C will go down!

Just before Christmas the Liberals announced that they intend to proceed with Site C. Since then our supporter numbers continue to grow daily. We now have over 7,200 followers on social media and over 4,700 supporters from our petition website!

We believe that both the Liberal government and pro-Site C industry groups are feeling very threatened by the court cases and public support against the dam. This is evidenced by the fact that Christy Clark announced a delay in the start of construction on the project. Additionally there has been a sudden proliferation of letters in the media by industry groups trying to justify the dam. They are clearly concerned about the lack of support for the project!

PVEA’s goal is to continue to build the court of public opinion and awareness about Site C so that public pressure against the dam is heard loud and clear!

Fortunately we have some amazing allies with many groups including: Sierra Club, Wilderness Committee, Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, Treaty 8, David Suzuki and David Suzuki Foundation. Also, over the last few months, our campaign and action alerts have been well supported by several Council of Canadians chapters, the BC Food Systems Network and others. Additionally, Patagonia, Amnesty International and Canadian Parks and Wilderness Association have become involved in our campaign!

Our support network just keeps getting bigger and stronger!

Thus, the demands on PVEA to supply up-to-date information on the multitude of issues, professional photos for promotion and media, participate in developing campaign strategies and foster relationships with new allied groups continues.

We, along with you and our growing network of supporters will stop this dam yet!!

And in order to achieve that… We need your help!

While we do our best to keep our requests for funding to a minimum, we are at a point where we are in need of financial support to keep going.

Please help save the valley by committing to a monthly donation or by pitching in $50, $75 or $150 for this crucial work. If you are able to donate more, that would be greatly appreciated. If this valley is flooded, there is no going back! The worst part is, as you know, Site C is totally unnecessary!

Please help us ensure that we are able to maximize the support of all of these large and influential allies who support our campaign. PVEA plays a critical role as the coordinating ‘hub’ for all of the allied groups. We are a key source for providing facts and information to support the campaign messaging. We maintain and grow all the social media sites and websites that help sustain the campaign. Additionally, we are doing all that we can to facilitate the six court cases against the dam.

We’ve come so far in this battle to save the Peace Valley – please help by making a contribution, so that we don’t ‘drop the ball’ at this crucial time.
